Five Takeaways From Wisconsin’s 34-3 Win Over WKU

By Logan Samp

MADISON, Wis. – No.7/No.4 Wisconsin opened the 2018 season with a resounding 34-3 victory over Western Kentucky, giving the Badgers their 23rd consecutive season-opening victory and their 40th-straight nonconference home win.

Here are five takeaways from the victory.

5. Rafael Gaglianone’s Back Holds Up

After being shut down in camp with back issues, Gaglianone assured fans there is nothing to worry about. The senior had no problems banging home field goals of 39 and 42 yards, along with four extra points.

Having the steady foot of the senior is a vital component to the Badgers’ success this season. His .800 career field goal percentage and now 62 career field goals are both second-best in school history.
