Wisconsin's Big Ten Opener Will Be In Primetime

MADISON, Wis. – The first road test for the University of Wisconsin was always going to be a tough rivalry game. The Badgers found out Monday that their conference opener is going to be that much more intense.

No.6 Wisconsin’s September 22nd Big Ten opener against Iowa will be a primetime kickoff at Kinnick Stadium, the Big Ten announced. The game will kick off at 7:30 p.m. and be televised by Fox.

The primetime kickoff – the 92nd all-time between the two schools – will be a first for the two schools in Iowa City.

Iowa (2-0) has been a notoriously tough home team under the lights, holding an 11-5 record in Kinnick Stadium’s history. The Hawkeyes knocked off No.2 Michigan on a last-second field goal in 2016 and was a second away from beating No.4 Penn State last season. Iowa also routed No.3 Ohio State, 55-24, last November, a loss that cost the Buckeyes a spot in the College Football Playoffs.

Winning five of the last six meetings in the series, Wisconsin leads the series 46-43-2 and has won its last four road meetings.
