Joe Schobert Delivers For Cleveland

Former Wisconsin Badgers linebacker Joe Schobert is one of Cleveland’s many heroes Thursday night.

Schobert intercepted New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold with 1:21 remaining that helped seal a 21-17 win for the Browns, snapping a 19-game winless streak dating back to Dec. 24, 2016 – a span of 635 days.

It was the second career interception for Schobert, who is entering his third year in the league.

The other star of the game was rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield, who entered for his NFL debut late in the second quarter and brought the Browns back from a 14-0 deficit. He went 17-for-23 for 201 yards passing and even caught the two-point conversion that tied the game at 14 late in the third quarter.

Prior to the game, Mayfield was spotted entering FirstEnergy Stadium wearing the jersey of Milwaukee Brewers outfield Christian Yelich. Evidently, the MVP-like season Yelich is putting together is starting to inspire others.
