Ethan Happ Named Preseason All-Big Ten

Returning for his senior season with a host of school records in front of him, Ethan Happ isn’t entering the 2018-19 campaign off the radar.

Happ was named as one of 10 members to the preseason all-conference, the Big Ten announced Thursday prior to the start of Big Ten media day in Chicago. Happ was joined by Indiana’s Romeo Langford and Juwan Morgan, Maryland’s Anthony Cowan Jr., Michigan’s Charles Matthews, Michigan State’s Nick Ward and Cassius Winston, Minnesota’s Jordan Murphy, Nebraska’s James Palmer and Purdue’s Carson Edwards.

Edwards and Happ were the only two unanimous selections. Edwards was also selected as the preseason player of the year in a poll of 28 media members who cover the conference. Happ received four votes for player of the year.

Winston, Morgan and Nebraska’s James Palmer rounded out the media’s first team. Langford was voted preseason Freshman of the Year.

Wisconsin was picked to finish sixth in the Big Ten, per the media poll, after finishing ninth in the conference last season with a 7-11 record. Wisconsin finished 15-18 overall, missing the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1998, but return its top nine scorers, a group led by Happ and a fully-healed sophomore guard Brad Davison.
