Analysis

The performances of Aron Cruickshank and Bryson Williams in fall camp don’t make their contributions surprising to this point. Williams is Wisconsin’s No.2 nose tackle behind senior Olive Sagapolu and Cruickshank’s speed and blocking have earned him reps in certain situations on offense.

Jack Sanborn and Rachad Wildgoose will likely surpass the four-game barrier by the end of the month. Sanborn has been pressed into action because of injuries to inside linebackers Griffin Grady and Mike Maskalunas and Wildgoose because of injuries to Deron Harrell, Faion Hicks and Caesar Williams. Wildgoose has stepped into an every-down role for Wisconsin and showcased some solid one-on-one defense against Michigan.

Reggie Pearson made his season debut last week and played well. He’s banged up with a left leg injury heading into this week at Illinois, so it’ll be interesting to see his future prognosis.

Travian Blaylock has been banged up with a right leg injury and will likely play more on special teams when he returns. Taj Mustapha was a healthy scratch last week and didn’t travel to Michigan, a signal that he will redshirt.

Alex Smith and Isaac Guerendo have played the last two weeks after each missed the first four games of the year.
