MADISON, Wis. – Needing to get off on the right foot defensively, inside linebacker T.J. Edwards delivered for Wisconsin.

The senior registered his second interception of the season on Illinois’ opening drive, returning its 28 yards to the Illini 25. UW scored two plays later when freshman receiver Aron Cruickshank went 23 yards on the jet sweep to make it 14-0.

UW is down three safeties against the Illini, as starters D’Cota Dixon and Scott Nelson and reserve Reggie Pearson were all inactive. Sophomore Eric Burrell and senior Evan Bondoc got the start in their place.
