Badgers Still Banged Up As Northwestern Prep Begins

MADISON, Wis. – A week after playing without four defensive starters, the University of Wisconsin could head into a critical Big Ten West matchup without as many as five at its disposal.

UW’s released injury report Monday still included starting safeties D’Cota Dixon and Scott Nelson with leg injuries and cornerback Faion Hicks but added included nose tackle Olive Sagapolu. Defensive end Isaiahh Loudermilk was ruled out for the second straight week with a leg injury.

Dixon, Hicks and Nelson didn’t dress in Saturday’s 49-20 win over Illinois and Sagapolu was hurt late in the first half. UW’s secondary didn’t seem to mind, as starting cornerbacks Deron Harrell and Rachad Wildgoose and safeties Eric Burrell and Evan Bondoc helped limit the Illini to 300 total yards and 98 passing yards, not to mention forcing five first-half interceptions that led to 21 UW points.

Wisconsin and Northwestern will kickoff at 11 a.m. from Ryan Field.
