MADISON, Wis. – Not only has the injury situation for the University of Wisconsin’s defense failed to improve, but it has also somehow got worse for the Badgers as they prepare for a pivotal Big Ten West matchup on the road.
Already knowing it would be without defensive end Isaiahh Loudermilk for another week, the Badgers announced free safety Scott Nelson would miss his second straight game with a right leg injury and cornerback Deron Harrell would miss Saturday’s road game at Northwestern with a right leg injury.
Harrell, who has started the last four games, was not listed on UW’s injury report Monday.
It could potentially get worse for Wisconsin, as senior nose tackle Olive Sagapolu (left leg) and senior strong safety D’Cota Dixon (right leg) will be game-time decisions. Dixon has missed the last two games, while Sagapolu was injured late in the first half of last week’s 49-20 win over Illinois.
The one bit of good news defensively is cornerback Faion Hicks (left leg) is no longer listed on the injury report and will likely play against the Wildcats.
UW (5-2, 3-1 Big Ten) trails Northwestern (4-3, 4-1) by a half-game in the Big Ten West standings. Kickoff from Ryan Field is slated for 11 a.m.
