MADISON, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin will open as a 30-point favorite over last-place Rutgers, according to the website Vegas Insider.
The Badgers-Scarlet Knights contest was originally kept off the sportsbook Sunday with the uncertainty of quarterback Alex Hornibrook being in the concussion protocol. Head coach Paul Chryst confirmed Monday that his junior quarterback is still being evaluated after missing last Saturday’s 31-17 loss at Northwestern, but reporters saw Hornibrook doing some light work after practice Tuesday.
The point spread has gone down slightly, with the Badgers (5-3, 3-2 Big Ten) being favored by 28.5 points Tuesday afternoon.
Rutgers (1-7, 0-5) has lost seven straight games and has never beat the Badgers, going 0-2 against joining the Big Ten conference in 2014 and being outscored 85-10.
