2019 Linebacker Maema Njongmeta Commits to Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin added itself a bad Maema Jama.

Offered by the coaching staff on Tuesday, Lincolnshire (Ill.) Stevenson linebacker Maema Njongmeta tweeted his committed to the Badgers Saturday evening after spending the afternoon at Camp Randall Stadium.

The 14th commit in Wisconsin’s 2019 class, the 6-1 Njongmeta joins Leo Chenal and Spencer Lytle as projected linebackers. A three-star linebacker by the 247sports composite, Njongmeta turned down offers from Iowa State, Navy, Tulane, Rice and numerous opportunities in the Ivy League and MAC. He also had a walk-on offer from Stanford that he was highly considering.

Njongmeta earned his offer thanks in part to a huge senior season in which he’s registered 131 tackles, 23 tackles for loss, 10 sacks and two fumble recoveries. He previously visited Wisconsin for the win over Nebraska last month.

“Camp Randall is insane,” Njongmeta told 247sports, previously. “I have friends that go to Wisconsin and they told me about the student section and the stadium. When I got to see it for the first time, I was like, ‘Yeah, they really bring it. Incredible atmosphere.

“I thought the campus was great. We got to walk through Madison and the surrounding area. I really liked the vibe the campus had. People were very welcoming. They were so happy it was game day. The vibe was just awesome.”
