Five Keys to Victory - Wisconsin vs. Minnesota

This afternoon will mark the 128th meeting between Wisconsin and Minnesota, continuing the longest running rivalry in college football. It’s also been one of the most one-sided series in the Big Ten. Winning its 14th straight game in the series with a 31-0 shutout in Minnesota last year, Wisconsin took the lead in the all-time series for the first time, now holding a 60-59-8 edge.

Wisconsin (7-4, 5-3 Big Ten) will look to continue to add to its winning ways and send its senior class out with one more victory, all the while keeping the Gophers (5-6, 2-6) from being bowl eligible for the second straight year.

For Wisconsin, here are the five things they need to do to beat Minnesota.

1, Creating Pressure in Minnesota’s Backfield

Wisconsin registered six tackles for loss and three sacks against Purdue, continuing a recent uptick in backfield pressure. Minnesota’s offense has struggled to protect its quarterback, giving up 2.8 sacks over the last eight games. With all of Wisconsin’s starting linebackers having registered at least one sack or tackles for loss in the last two games, the Badgers will have a strong the ability to keep that streak up against Minnesota and prevent any easily third downs.
