Offense: B+

With Wisconsin and Iowa trading leads late in the game, it was Brevin Pritzl’s 3-pointer that gave the Badgers the lead for good at 63-61 with 1:38 to go in the game. The Badgers’ offense was able to put the finishing touches in the remaining moments of the game to register its first Big Ten win. In that span after Pritzl’s three, the Badgers made their final two field goals, and Brad Davison and D’Mitrik Trice went a combined 4-for-4 on their free throws. Sparked by Pritzl’s three, UW closed the game on a 12-5 run.

The 3-point shot was a struggle for Wisconsin, going only 8-for-24 (33.3 percent) from the perimeter, and only Pritzl and D’Mitrik Trice made multiple 3-pointers. Trice’s shooting was again huge for UW, as he scored a game-high 20 points, knocked down four of his eight perimeter attempts and hit a tough three with just over 20 seconds remaining.

Despite the three not falling, the Badgers were able to have success around the rim with 38 points in the paint, 22 coming in the second half. It was a combination of players who generated high percentage shots as Ethan Happ was second to Trice in points with 13 on 6-for-10 shooting from the field.

Over the last 20 minutes of the game, Wisconsin shot 51.6 percent (16-for-31) from the field and 5-for-13 (38.4 percent) from three. With Wisconsin striking a balance on offense in the second half allowed them to erase an eight-point deficit with 12:56 remaining. Wisconsin finished the game shooting 27-for-56 (48.2 percent) from the field on 13 assists.

Wisconsin’s offense was able to help itself out by not coughing the basketball up as the Badgers finished the game with nine turnovers. Trice (three turnovers) and Happ (two turnovers) combined for five of Wisconsin’s nine turnovers as a total of six players for Wisconsin turned the basketball over. Iowa was able to cash Wisconsin’s mistakes into seven points.
