Wisconsin Jumps To No.12 In Latest AP Poll

MADISON, Wis. – Knocking off a pair of unbeaten teams last week, including a ranked team on the road, shot the University of Wisconsin up the national rankings.

A week after beating N.C. State in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge and No.14 Iowa in Iowa City Friday, Wisconsin jumped 10 shots to No.12 in this week’s Associated Press poll. The Badgers are the third-highest ranked Big Ten team in the poll behind No.5 Michigan and No.10 Michigan State.

Through the first month of the season, Wisconsin has wins over Iowa (Big Ten), Oklahoma (Big 12), NC State (ACC), Xavier (Big East) and Stanford (Pac-12), giving them five wins over major-conference teams to equal Gonzaga for the most in the nation.

That tough early season schedule has Wisconsin ranked sixth in the latest NCAA NET rankings (NCAA tournament selection committee metric that replaced RPI). Five of UW’s eight games have come against the NET top 75 (UW is 4-1 in those games).

UW hosts Rutgers (5-2, 0-1) tonight before playing at Marquette (6-2) Saturday afternoon.
