Wisconsin's Jonathan Taylor Wins Doak Walker Award

Rushing for 1,989 yards and 15 touchdowns during the regular season, University of Wisconsin sophomore tailback Jonathan Taylor officially became the best running back in the country Thursday.

The Big Ten running back of the year became the national running back of the year when he was announced as the 2018 recipient of the Doak Walker Award at an awards ceremony in Orlando, Fla.

Taylor joins Ron Dayne (1999), Montee Ball (2012) and Melvin Gordon (2014) as UW players who have won the honor as the nation’s best running back.

Wisconsin now leads the nation with four individual Doak Walker Award winners, beating out Texas – which has had three players win the award, with Ricky Williams winning it twice.
