Wisconsin Signing Class Preview - Maema Njongmeta

MADISON, Wis – With the early signing period for high school football players beginning on December 19, Badgers Insider takes a closer look at the recruits expected to sign with the University of Wisconsin.

In this edition, we examine Lincolnshire (Ill.) Stevenson linebacker Maema Njongmeta.

Senior Season

Njongmeta had a monster senior season for Stevenson, registering 134 tackles (81 solos), 24 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, 12 quarterback hurries and two fumble recoveries. His team finished 6-4.

Skill Set

Currently at 6-1 and roughly 210 pounds, Njongmeta has the build of an inside linebacker, a position that requires its players to be fearless running through traffic up the middle and bringing down ball carriers. Watching his tape, Njongmeta plays with that explosiveness, as his tackle numbers certainly show he has the natural ability to flow to the football using proper angles and having solid technique. He plays with passion, makes good reads to track the ball and takes the right angles to finish plays.
