Even in his final performance as a high school quarterback, Graham Mertz still found a way to break records.
Starting in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl for the East Team, the Wisconsin commit went just 7-for-14 but threw for 188 yards and five touchdowns in a 48-14 victory against the West Team at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
The yards and touchdowns were a new record for the bowl game, which has been played since 2000, and the touchdowns went to three different receivers. Just as impressive, none of Mertz’s pass attempts came close to being intercepted.
Naturally, Wisconsin fans starved for a high-level quarterback, and simply fans alike, reacted favorably.
