Wisconsin Drops Out of AP Top 25

A win over Penn State Sunday wasn’t enough to keep Wisconsin in the national rankings this week.

Evidently doomed by its ugly home loss to Minnesota Thursday, the Badgers fell from No.22 to outside the top 25. Wisconsin (11-4, 3-1 Big Ten) received 45 votes, putting them 44 votes behind No.25 TCU (12-1).

It’s the first time since the second week of the season the Badgers have been unranked. UW was ranked as high as No.12 the week of December 3.

Wisconsin is currently 2-2 against teams in this week’s AP poll, having beaten No.15 N.C. State (13-1) and No.23 Oklahoma (12-2) and lost to No.4 Virginia (13-0) and No.21 Marquette (12-3).

Just four teams were ranked in this week’s AP poll, but Wisconsin’s next three games are against Big Ten teams receiving votes in this week’s poll, starting with a home game against Purdue at the Kohl Center Friday.
